PRESS RELEASE : NOVEMBER 24, 2012

Visakha Music Academy was established on the Vijayadasami day in 1969 in this memorable and splendorous city of Visakhapatnam. Promotion of fine arts in general and classical music and dance in particular formed its core objectives. The Academy inherited a rich legacy in these cultural forms and also owes a duty to sustain them for posterity.

Visakha Music Academy has been arranging a concert every month regularly, Mid-year series in June by giving a platform for projecting the young artists of promise. Best concert Award is presented with a cash award and memento.

A week long annual festival in November is organized , in which eminent artistes from different parts of the country are featured. Thus this year in commemoration of 43 years of glorious service to the music fraternity, a 6-day festival is arranged from November 26 to December 1^st.

Academy's title Sangeeta Kala Saagara / Natya Kala Saagara

Started in 1971 with Padma Vibhushan, Chevalier, Sangeeta Ratna Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna, Visakha Music academy started conferring Sangeeta Kala Saagara / Natya Kala Saagara title to the front ranking artistes. The title carries presentation of a gold medal, citation etc. Over the past 42 years, Academy honoured 48 artistes with this title, which was graciously received.

This year's Recipient of the title Natya Kala Saagara would be

The festival will be inaugurated at 6 p.m. on November 26^th by Shri Ajeya Kallam IAS, Chairman, Visakhapatam Port Trust.

With a view to promote and kindle interest, free Admit passes will be issued to the students pursing music in Schools / colleges strictly upon certification by the Institutions concerned.
